Technically it’s been Spring since March 20th but there’s still snow on the ground and until the last few days its been feeling more like a winter hangover than anything resembling Spring.
But its April and I’m ready to move on and embrace Spring! After all, spring means spring cleaning.
That’s right, my inner neat freak can now revel in the annual tradition of clean and tidy. But I have an accomplice this year because Kristin over at Peace, Love and Muesli and I are joining forces. Starting April 11th we’re launching a two-week long Spring Clean blog event. While Kristin spring cleans your kitchen and diet I’ll be tackling spring clean projects around the house.
Prepare to be dusted, mopped, sorted, and purged!
Join us every day between the 11th and 22nd and link up your own Spring Clean projects: ones you’ve finished, ones you’ve just started, or ones that you need the motivation to tackle.
Not a naturally tidy person? Would a prize from one of my favourite company’s Mabel’s Labels be enough incentive to tackle at least one project? Stay tuned because on April 13th we’ll announce a fun contest all about how you label with your Mabels.
Let’s get started! Now that Spring is here we want to spend every moment outside. Toys are being unearthed from under the snow, the bikes are back on the street, and the boys are ready to play. Too bad we can’t find anything in our deceptively tidy looking garage.
My husband, whom I love and adore, is king of the “we may need it one day” club. Since there is no room in the house allotted to clutter and junk, it migrates to the garage where he stashes it away. Our garage is organized and neat but we don’t need at least 1/2 of the things that are there. Frankly, I don’t even know what’s in 80% of the Rubbermaid containers we have stacked on the shelves.
For the next three weeks we’ll tackle the garage section by section and reveal our handywork on the last day of the Spring Clean blog event, April 22nd.
I didn’t even have the garage on our Spring Clean list until Sasha over at The Rambling Stroller emailed me and suggested a Garage Spring Clean challenge. She knows I love to tidy and would never turn down the opportunity for a little ‘you can do it’ challenge!
We have almost three weeks: Do you accept the Garage Spring clean challenge?

Alright, I’m in… I think I’m going to pick 2 projects and nothing more so I don’t feel too overwhelmed. But we’ll see
2 is a good number! Even 1 is admirable – spring cleaning is not for the faint of heart
That’s such a great idea, who thought that up?
I will sign up for the garage challenge too, only I don’t have a garage, I have a basement space and it’s so chaotic it gives me an inner neat freak !
These two very smart lovely bloggy ladies who also like pink!
A basement is as equally terrifying as a garage. I haven’t even started on the garage yet, which worries me a bit. Darn rain!!
This is my last week of work and then I have, possibly, (depending upon the baby’s plans for arrival!), four weeks to do what I want while the boys are in school/daycare. I plan to re-organize the whole house. The shed (our equivalent of a garage) is my husband’s territory; I try to not even go in there!
So excited you have another baby on the way!!
Nesting is the most satisfying form of organization
Spring cleaning is a close second!
I just found out that I probably don’t have daycare for the 3 yo starting in May, so I’d better make use of my time!

Worked on our garage this weekend. Even though not close to done there is a lot more space since someone took their toys back home ;o). Will be even better when that same someone helps us build our playground and a lot of big boxes are removed from the garage!
Yeh yeh, I get the hint
Our garage will be a lot cleaner when a certain motorcycle finds a new home!!!
What a great idea. It’s too bad most of it’ll happen while I’m away. The garage is on the list of May to-do’s, and I’m still working on my craft cupboard needs. These are my big clean-ups, as well as the ongoing backyard issues. I’ll keep you posted on what develops.
I think a trip is a fantastic reason to miss out on spring cleaning
This cold weather has definitely put a damper on my typical April tidy-up to-do list
The heat is on! My garage is not even remotely deceptively tidy. I’ll post the whole sob story next week
.
With pictures I hope!!
I accept the challenge! Though the house is so clean these days, with having to show it, I don’t know what to take on! Basement sounds great; it’s quickly filling up with “packed stuff” that a little organization down there now is seriously needed. Sounds like fun!
When we sold our house last winter we started using the garage as our own personal moving pod. By the time we moved there was a narrow path down one side of the garage and not a single stitch of space left!
Hey, everybody, don’t forget to take time off of organizing to have fun, too! We don’t want to miss all the good times by focusing on just organizing!
Here here!
Just because you don’t know what its for doesent mean we don’t need it
As the guy in the Airport said “Don’t touch my junk!”
